Leading business incubator Sussex Innovation has joined forces with performance marketing and technology business Citrus Ornge to help drive innovation and growth across some of the more underserved areas of East Sussex.

With much of the investment in the region typically focused on the city of Brighton, the UK Community Renewal Fund is targeting small businesses elsewhere in the county, to support their post-Covid recovery.

Sussex Innovation have created four unique programmes, open to everyone from small start-ups and sole traders, to more established SMEs and larger businesses – organisations looking to kick-start their innovation journey and take their business to the next level.

Open to all businesses in East Sussex (excluding central Brighton), each course offers a wide range of approaches to suit to the needs of its audience, including:

  • Bespoke masterclass sessions
  • Cutting-edge innovation theory from the University of Sussex Business School
  • Practical tools from Sussex Innovation’s experienced consultancy team
  • Group coaching and peer collaboration
  • 1:1 feedback and analysis
  • ‘Dragons Den’ style pitching to active investors

This will be the latest in a series of major business support programmes delivered by Sussex Innovation over recent years. From 2019-21 the organisation worked with more than 300 SMEs via the European Regional Development Fund, providing critical support to help companies weather the pandemic and adding an estimated £1.4m of additional value to the start-up economy.

Chief Executive of Sussex Innovation, Nigel Lambe commented: “We are always keen to work with dynamic local businesses, and this wide-ranging new programme was a great opportunity for us to partner with the Citrus Ornge team. It’s fitting that – for a project dedicated to supporting more than 700 of our region’s ambitious, fast- growing companies – we’ll be recruiting our cohorts with the help of another ambitious, fast-growing company. We’re looking forward to the contribution we can make to help East Sussex’s potentially game-changing businesses grow and have a greater impact.”

Using it’s award-winning services in digital marketing and business development to market the campaign and provide B2B support for this incredibly exciting initiative, Citrus Ornge will be working alongside the team at Sussex Innovation on this exciting project. They will be dedicating time to canvas local businesses, connecting them with this incredible opportunity to play a part in helping East Sussex’s business sector grow and thrive.

Citrus Ornge have been working tirelessly to help local businesses get back on their feet from the fallout of the global pandemic. Naturally, this new and exciting collaboration was the obvious next step to take as part of Citrus’s journey. Jason Baker, Citrus Ornge CEO, expressed his enthusiasm: “It is both an incredibly exciting and rewarding initiative for us to be a part of. Aligning with our goals and aims for 2022, I feel both thrilled and privileged for Citrus Ornge to be able to collaborate with such an important organisation within our community. We will back this up with the collective effort of our departments, using our suite of multi-channel marketing solutions to help drive to those businesses and individuals who can benefit from these programmes the most and ultimately drive growth, jobs success across East Sussex”
