Unlost, the team adventure specialists, and Touch Video Academy, the smartphone video training company, have partnered with Citrus Ornge to assist recovering addicts by teaching them new skills and experiencing extraordinary adventures.
As a result, Kim Slade, who owns both Unlost and Touch Video Academy, is offering places to those in recovery on selected video courses and adventures.
For example, Unlost will be running a three-day journey into the Swiss Alps to train with a Swiss Toboggan Champion and then tackle a 20km long Toboggan run (the world’s longest) after hiking to the summit of a 2700m mountain to get to the start line.
Furthermore, Unlost is also planning a three-day Scotland trip later this year, which will include canoeing and wildcamping, alongside a film making course in the Highlands.
It is hoped that the skills gained through Touch Video Academy will give people the confidence to create impactful video using just their phone. The organisation specializes in video production and video marketing workshops for large companies as well as courses for individuals and entrepreneurs. Each person leaves the course having shot and edited a video they can be proud of.
Unlost adventures help people get re-connect with the planet and themselves, building confidence, and opening their eyes to future life possibilities. This is achieved through adventures to spectacular natural locations for challenging experiences, inspired by pure childhood joy and awe.
Jason Baker, Founder, Citrus Ornge comments: “Once getting sober you have the opportunity to do anything and go anywhere. Enjoying life is important so we need to make sure our help goes beyond finding work alone and into positive experiences and learning new skills. Personally, my desire to enjoy life has seen me join a softball team, buy a skateboard and go kayaking with the BEC (Brighton Explorers Club). This new initiative with local Brighton businesses, Touch Video Academy and Unlost, run by Kim Slade means we can offer a placement for fully booked courses and adventure excursions.”
Kim Slade, Founder at Unlost and Touch Video Academy comments: “Although with both businesses we teach practical skills and offer awesome memories, for me it’s all about seeing people’s confidence grow. I obviously want Citrus Ornge’s help in a business sense, but what gave me the drive to start these businesses in the first place is my need to contribute to people’s confidence. The places we are offering through this partnership will have a massive positive impact on those who really need it at this stage of their lives. That’s why I jumped at the chance to be a part of this win-win-win-win situation.”
